Kicking off our Sunday singer/songwriter series are Evan Holmes and Jenn Romero!

Evan Holmes is a Chicago-based songwriter and musician.  An Illinois native, his body of work accompanied by longtime bandmates Exit Ghost at once embraces and calls into question the imagistic and tonal vocabularies of the Midwestern songwriting landscape: the consistent dichotomies of urban/rural, romanticism/decay, aestheticism/necessity, progression/tradition.  His most recent full-length alongside Exit Ghost, Elston, was written and recorded during an artist residency at Chicago’s High Concept Laboratories, and has been featured in Paste Magazine, Daytrotter, and Chicago Magazine.  Holmes additionally works with Come, Virgil! Music, a Chicago-based artist development group.

Songwriter Jenn Romero, along with mbira player Matthew Shelton, violinist Emily Jane Powers, and bassist Shelby Turner are The Jellies: mellow, haunting tunes that’ll put you at the heart of a music box.
